Glomerular Pathology

Glomerulus is a minute tuft of capillary in a urinary space lining. It is the basic functional unit of the kidney. It has multiple layer of cells with very complex structure. Inflammation or diseased glomeruli can lead to kidney failure, blood or protein in urine. Glomerular diseases are diagnosed by a kidney biopsy which is usually done by radiologist assisted with CT scan or ultrasound. Some glomerular diseases require chemotherapy. Glomerular diseases can be associated with other autoimmune diseases and can also affect other part of the body such as your lungs. We treat complex glomerular diseases and in liaison with hematologist/oncologists (cancer doctors) if chemo therapy is needed.
